MICROCEMENT

Microcement is a resin-based coating used to create seamless finishes on floors, walls, and other surfaces. It is hand-applied with a trowel and is a versatile and durable material that can be applied in various colours and textures to suit different design aesthetics.

When installed and maintained properly, microcement is highly durable and can last for many years. It’s resistant to wear, stains, and cracks, making it a long-lasting solution for both residential and commercial spaces.

Microcement is relatively low-maintenance. Regular cleaning with a neutral pH cleaner and avoiding harsh chemicals will keep it looking great. Periodic resealing can further extend its longevity and rejuvenate the surface,

Yes, microcement is considered eco-friendly because it uses fewer raw materials and doesn’t require major demolition during installation. Its longevity and durability also reduce the need for replacements, making it a sustainable choice.

Factors such as location, details required, and chosen finish can influence the price of a microcement installation. Typically, microcement can cost anywhere between £130-£170+VAT per square meter.

Microcement can be applied to a wide range of surfaces, including screeds, cement boards, tiles, wood, plaster, and even existing floors or walls. It’s ideal for both new builds and renovations.

Yes, microcement is highly customisable. It can be finished in a wide variety of colours and textures, from smooth and polished to more textured or rustic finishes, allowing you to create a unique look tailored to your space. We offer a standard range of colours but can also closely match popular paint brands such as Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Dulux, and RAL.

Microcement finishes we offer:

Coarse – Highly durable, large grain, rustic stone finish. Suitable for high-traffic walls, floors, and bathrooms. It can be heavily sanded so that it is smooth to the touch or lightly sanded to aid non-slip properties.

Medium – Understated, simplistic finish with subtle tones and minimal movement. It can be hand-floated to produce our signature cloudy finish. Suitable for medium-traffic walls, floors, and bathrooms.

Trowel-X – Extremely durable, power-floated concrete effect finish with a Mohs hardness rating of 7, which is comparable to Quartz stone. It can be finished with a matt sealer or diamond polished to achieve a polished concrete look. FOR FLOORS ONLY.

Yes, microcement is suitable for outdoor applications as well. Thanks to its resin-based formula, it is 100% waterproof before sealers are applied. It is weather-resistant and can be used on patios, terraces, and external walls, providing a seamless and contemporary finish to outdoor spaces.

Yes, microcement is compatible with most wet and dry UFH systems. It is best to check with your installer beforehand to see if your chosen system is suitable and what substrate preparation they recommend.

Due to the seamless nature of microcement, it can be difficult to patch in or repair large areas without being noticeable, even when using the same product and colour as the damaged area. If using a reputable brand of microcement, damage is unlikely to occur with general use.

Yes, our chosen brand of microcement (Forcrete) is resin-based, meaning it is 100% waterproof and stain-resistant, making it a perfect choice for wet areas such as bathrooms, wet rooms, kitchens, and even steam rooms.

Traditional microcements, which are cementitious and polymer-based, rely on a polyurethane sealer to keep them waterproof. These sealers can deteriorate over a short period of time, allowing water to enter the surface and resulting in water damage and delamination.

The time required depends on the size of the area and the complexity of the project, but typically, the application process takes between 5 to 7 days, including drying and sealing time.

Microcement is applied in thin layers, typically between 2 to 3 mm, which makes it an excellent option for renovation projects, as it doesn’t significantly increase the thickness of the surface.

We exclusively use Forcrete microcement products, which are some of the best on the market for durability, performance, and look. Thanks to their resin-based formula, liquid physically cannot absorb into the surface, making it 100% waterproof before sealers are applied. This also means it has to go through a curing process, resulting in a highly durable and impact-resistant finish.

Microcement will never crack on its own and will only follow the substrate below. It is essential to correctly prepare areas receiving Microcment to ensure the longevity of the surface. Reputable installers will take all the possible steps to mitigate the chance of cracking, such as recommending a solid and suitable substrate build-up, installing a fibreglass mesh undercoat, running UFH systems before the installation, and installing expansion gaps under doors and at necessary pinch points to redirect any movement.

Venetian Plaster

Venetian plaster is a decorative finish composed of lime and marble dust. It is hand-applied in multiple thin layers with a trowel. It is a versatile and timeless material that can be applied in various colours and textures to suit any design requirement.

Venetian plaster can retain its charm and finish for decades, provided it is applied and maintained correctly. This makes it a long-lasting solution for both residential and commercial spaces.

Venetian plaster requires minimal maintenance to keep it looking new. A re-seal every two years or so can rejuvenate Venetian surfaces, subject to use, care and daily environmental conditions. Avoid vigorous scrubbing with abrasive cleaning items like wire wool or scouring pads, and refrain from using cleaners that contain harsh chemicals. it’s best to refer to the manufacturer’s aftercare guide or ask your installer how best to look after your surfaces.

Yes, Venetian plaster is eco-friendly because of its non-toxic, natural mineral composition. In addition, this plaster does not contain harmful chemicals or give off VOCs (volatile organic compounds) like most paints do.

Factors such as location, details required, and chosen finish can influence the price of a Venetian plaster installation. Typically, Venetian plaster can cost anywhere between £130-£170+VAT per square meter.

Venetian plaster can be applied to a wide range of surfaces, including plasterboard, painted walls, wood, plaster, cement board, and more. This makes it ideal for both new builds and renovations.

Yes, Venetian plaster is highly customisable. It can be finished in a wide variety of colours and textures, from smooth and polished to more textured or rustic finishes, allowing you to transform your spaces tailored to your design visions.

No, Venetian plaster is not suitable for outdoor application because the sealing process is not robust enough. Microcement is your best choice if you are looking for a similar finish on external surfaces

Venetian plaster is renowned for its fire-resistant properties, which make it a safe and reliable choice for various applications. This fire resistance is due to the composition of Venetian plaster, typically made from lime and marble dust. Lime has natural fire-resistant qualities, meaning it doesn’t easily ignite or propagate flames. This makes Venetian plaster suitable for areas where fire safety is paramount, such as fireplace surrounds, kitchens, or any other high-risk areas.

Yes, microcement is suitable for outdoor applications as well. It is weather-resistant and can be used on patios, terraces, and external walls, providing a seamless and contemporary finish to outdoor spaces.

Venetian plaster is not inherently waterproof, but it can be made water-resistant with sealants and wax. Venetian plaster can be used in bathrooms, provided you are careful where it is applied. It is good at resisting mildew and condensation as the lime in the plaster allows walls to ‘breathe’ and is a natural mould killer.

The time to install Venetian plaster depends on the size of the area and the complexity of the project, but typically, the application process takes anywhere between 1 to 7 days, including drying and sealing time.

Venetian plaster is applied in thin layers and is typically between 0.5 and 1 mm thick, depending on the chosen finish. This makes it an excellent option for renovation projects, as it doesn’t significantly increase the thickness of the surface.

We exclusively use Venetian plaster products from Cebos Color; they pride themselves on sourcing high-quality, sustainable raw materials and stand out in the decorative wall finishes sector for their dedication to excellence and innovation.

Venetian plaster offers a timeless, durable finish, but like all wall finishes, it requires proper care to maintain its longevity. Cracks can develop from substrate movement, stress, or temperature fluctuations, particularly in older homes or high-traffic areas.
